Trusting the Digital Economy
The digital economy is an economy based on goods and services related to information and communications technologies. It can only develop in a trusting environment.
The success of e-business, e-administration and on-line banking services depends on the trust the various parties give to the security of internet transactions and exchanges.
This trust environment is based on four main points:
- the authentication and confirmation of the identity of the persons who are acting in a digital environment
- the guarantee of the integrity of the data and documents transmitted during a digital exchange
- the protection of the confidentiality of the information and data exchanged or kept on a digital device
- the establishment of a clear link between a digital document or action and a person as well as a legal means of proof of action undertaken and non-repudiation of such action.
