DIGITAL CERTIFICATION APPLICATIONS
e-commerce
Since 1997 the Tunisian Government has paid particular attention to developing e-commerce and the knowledge economy.
- 1997 – Creation of the National Commission on Electronic Commerce
- 1999 – Inter-ministerial Council on the Digital Economy
- August 2000 – Tunisian Law on commerce and e-business and the creation of the NDCA
Since 2000, Tunisia has established a regulatory framework that governs trade and e-commerce (Law 2000-83 of 9 August 2000 and enforcement texts). Within this framework, the NDCA task has been to provide a trusted and secure environment for digital transactions and trade, particularly in the field of e-commerce.
The server certificate delivered by the NDCA ensures the authentication of merchant web sites and guarantees the security of digital transactions and trade. The solutions the NDCA offers enable a trusted environment to be established between a server and its clients when a secure session is set up (Secure Socket Layer (SSL) Protocol), for example, for an on-line purchase or payment on a market web site (developing a secure e-dinar payment platform).
