DIGITAL CERTIFICATION
Public key cryptography
Public key cryptography is a method used to secure Internet exchanges and transactions (authentication of the sender, guarantee of integrity and confidentiality).
This technique relies on the principle of “asymmetric key pair” or “two-way keys”, which are enciphering keys. In this case, what is enciphered by one key can only be deciphered by the key that is its pair, and vice versa.
Every person engaged in a transaction holds a “private key” and a “public key”. His private key must not be communicated to anyone, whereas his public key is transmitted to all his interlocutors without any restriction.
If person A wishes to send an encrypted message and wants to be sure that only B will read it, he has to encipher it with B’s public key. B can only decipher the message with his private (secret) key.
